My name is Evelin Solorzano and I was born in El Salvador and came to the United States at the age of 14. About a year after my arrival, I remember my mother trying to apply for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for me. She asked me to help translate the forms, but even though I translated each question into Spanish, it was difficult for her to understand what to write. We then went to the USCIS office in San Francisco to submit the paperwork, but her forms were rejected—and no one explained why. Eventually, my mother found a paralegal to help us. I still remember asking her to let me sit in as the paralegal corrected the paperwork and explained the changes so I could learn.

That early experience became the foundation of what I do today. Watching my own family struggle to understand and complete legal forms inspired me to dedicate my life to helping others navigate those same challenges. This experience also inspired me to pursue a career in the legal field, and I went on to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from San Francisco State University.

I have worked in the legal field for over 30 years, including more than 11 years with the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County, where I discovered my true calling—empowering individuals to overcome barriers and access justice with dignity. I often meet clients who come to me after trying to complete their paperwork on their own, only to face rejections or delays. My work allows me to help them move forward with confidence, clarity, and care.
